Eclipse...

OMG, people.

Yesterday afternoon, I packed the girls up, sent them to Nana's, sent the hubs to Tuscaloosa with his brother, and went home to curl up with New Moon and take a nap, in preparation for Eclipse at midnight.

We had decided to meet our group of friends at 11:00 at the movie theatre to wait in line for our seats. John got home around 10:15, so we ended up leaving shortly after that and heading on up there, the place was already pretty crowed. We were able to go ahead and get in our theatre so we could sit down, instead of having to wait in the lobby. Our theatre was already pretty full by that point. Our friends got there, and then we had to wait for an hour for the movie to start.

Our first preview? The new theatrical trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I DIE. It's going to be SO good. We also got a preview for Paranormal Activity 2, which I don't want to talk about, because it might give me more nightmares.

Anyway, I kind of expected some screaming when it started from the tweenies, but none. I think the person sitting next to Tracie was the epitome of the person you want sitting next to you in these movies.

Can I just say that Kristen Stewart's acting is absolutely awful? I don't know who cast her, but she is an awful actress, and just looks to be in pain in a lot of it. Also, as much as I LOVE R Pattz, the more I watch, the more I think Chase Crawford could have been a better fit for Edward.

The acting seems to be getting better and better and there are definitely some funny parts. The action is great, the fight scene is just what you would expect it to be. I think they incorporated The Bree Tanner story into it, which is kind of cool.

I really think in this one you can see just how deep that Bella and Edward's connection is, and I like that.

All in all, these movies are getting better with age, and I can't wait until Breaking Dawn starts. I had a hard time going to sleep thinking about where they will split the movie in half and how graphic some of the scenes are going to be. I read that it might have to be rated R due to the sex scenes alone, which I think are going to be pretty intense!

I think it was a great way to start this Wednesday, even if I am dragging today.

Frustrated...

I am frustrated. Last weekend, I had the thoughts of just taking our house off the market. Ya know, re-painting our bedroom and bathroom, and just making it work for us a little longer. But then, Monday, we got the call that someone wanted to look at it on Tuesday. So, I was like, "Hey God, that's cool. I see where you are going. We'll keep it on the market." We don't hear anything Tuesday afternoon, and I'm not even sure she shows up. But then, Wednesday, we get another call. She likes it. She made an offer that was about $12,000 less than what we are asking, but she says it's a final offer. So, we counter back, and then she counters back, and we decide to take. It's probably the best offer that we are going to get. So, we decide to take it and run. She has to sign off on it, and it is contingent on the sale of her house, which is already under contract. John and I decide to kind of play it cool on telling a bunch of people, just in case it falls through. I'm sure you remember Nick Pappageorgio, so we are a little skittish.

We get a call yesterday morning from our real estate agent and the people buying her house backed out. We are devastated. We thought this was it... We feel a little trapped in this house. We are quickly outgrowing it and could use some more room. It's not a money pit. It's a very nice house. It's 3 bedrooms. We need something bigger.

I know God has a bigger plan and this wasn't the right time, but I can't help but ask, "When is the right time?? Why do we have bad luck with trying to sell this house??"

Anyway, that's what's going on around here... I am off to do more cleaning and more laundry.

Happy Father's Day

John,
You have given me two of the most awesome gifts I could have ever dreamed of. Everyday, when I look and watch them, I see your personality, your expressions, your looks coming out in them and it makes my heart melt to know that these precious babes will have your humor and your passion. I wouldn't trade anything in the whole world for you and those girls.
Addison said she enjoyed:
  • watching Alabama Football
  • taking baths
  • when you bring her Chick fil a
  • walk around (? not sure about this one)
  • she likes to color pictures for you
  • when you teach her to swim
  • she likes it when you take her to MeMac's
  • likes to take pictures with you
and visit you at work.

Thank you for these awesome little offspring!

Girls Night Out...

I have found that in my grown up years, there is nothing more that can make you feel good as a good ol' girls night out. Take a couple of your best girls, add dinner and a movie, and you just can't beat it. After finally working out everyone's hectic schedules we able to scoop a couple of gals together to go see Sex And The City 2.

There is a difference now to getting ready. It's called children. And children, don't want you to have these GNO's. Addison followed me into my bathroom to get ready and proceeded to whine, "But Mama! I don't want you to go eat dinner and a movie! I want you to stay here with me!"

But, I'll tell ya, my little Addison is a sucker for make-up. So, I put the finishing touches on mine, I looked to her and asked her if she would like some make up for that night. She perked up. I normally, never let her just play in my make-up. I will put on whatever she picks up, but I don't let her have at it, like a Picasso painting. But I remembered one of the greatest memories of my childhood was when my Mama let me play in her make up before bed. Since she worked the night shift, she would let me put a little lipstick on or mascara and I really felt like Hollywood. I have probably started something that I will shortly wish that I didn't, but for these 20 minutes, she was the happiest little girl.

Checking out the damage

That is some serious concentration for putting on lipgloss.

This is a ritual in the McPhilly household... she thinks she is singing "Sing Sweet Nightengale" from Cinderella.

Hello... why do they let me out of my cage?

In a 3 year old's mind, everything is always better with GLITTER.

She had a blast and I am glad I did it. I started a new tradition with her.

She then insisted that she dress herself... in a dress up skirt that she turned into a strapless dress and her Carrie Bradshaw high heels.  John said she looked like a hooker when he got home.

You'll be happy to know that he didn't take her to dinner like that... he did change her clothes, which I was afraid he wouldn't.

Want to know a funny story? My dear friend, Brooke, who was in charge of finding the movie times, who was also, pretty sick last week. She looked at the movie times and saw that there was an 7:05 and an 8:05 movie. We ate dinner and got to talking with Jana, who joined us, and we headed to the movie around 8:00. We get there and go to get our tickets, and the 8:05 time isn't showing up. Turns out, Brooke looked at the times on Thursday and the times changed on Friday. So, we ended up going back to Jana's and just having girl time, which was much more fun than hanging out with Carrie, Miranda, Samantha, and Charlotte.

Busy Week... for our Doctors

Sunday afternoon was just like any other lazy day. We had just come in from the pool where Addison and Claire both had a blast and really, FINALLY, started swimming. Claire has gotten into this new habit of stealing Addison's shoes that are haphazardly laying around and sticking them on her hands. It really peeves Addison and she always uses her Mommy Voice, "Cwaire, do NOT do that Aaannyyymore!", which consists of lots of clipped tones and words. As John and I were enthralled in the Man Vs Food marathon that was on the Travel Channel, we hear they thud. The one that let's us know that Claire has taken a spill. John looks at me and says, "I don't understand how she just falls randomly." After a few seconds, Addison looks at us, who has been watching the whole thing unfold, and says, "Uh OH! Cwaire have blood!" We immediately jump up, John gets to her first. And sure enough, blood is coming out of her lip at an alarming pace. We get over to the sink and start to clean it up, and John is asking, "did she bit through it? what about her teeth?" And about that time, blood starts coming out of her nose and I start my investigation on whether it's broken or not. We get the bleeding stopped and decide that she does, indeed, need to be checked out "just in case". Which, I hate doing, simply because it's a $35 co pay down the drain. Normally, they just check you out, say, "Oh she's fine! Just keep doing what you are doing!" and then I'm $35 poorer. But, I was worried her nose was possibly broken or she was going to need stitches, so we went to Urgent Care. Her nose was in fact, NOT broken and the doctor would do stitches for the fact that it's inside the lip, but it looked really bad.

So, that was our Sunday evening. Monday goes off without a hitch, with me going to Huntsville to get my car serviced and Tuesday morning is no different, with Addison crawling into my bed around 6:30 as John is on his way out the door. Claire wakes up around 7:30 and I get up with her. Addison sleeps until about 8:45, which she NEVER does. When she woke up, she was BURNING UP. Like, she'd been sleeping wrapped in a heating blanket all night. I give her a few minutes, to cool down, thinking it was just warm under my covers and she tends to radiate heat anyway. I take her temp. It's 104. I take it a few minutes later and it's 103.5. At this point, I decided to just give her some Tylenol and see what that does to her fever. Over the next few hours it brings it down to around 101.5 and after her nap it's 103.5. So I load the kiddos up and take them to Urgent Care again. They recognize us, and I assure them that it's the other child this time. The lady takes A's temp and it says 99.6. I said No Way. She takes it again. 99.5. I just decide that she doesn't know how to take a temperature.

So, they do a strep test and it's negative, but all signs point to strep, so that's what we are treating. Strep Throat. Great.

After one dose of medicine, she was already feeling better and after the second dose, she is pretty much back to normal, just a not as hungry version of herself. Which, has been kind of awful, she is still contagious until tomorrow afternoon. So, we can't go anywhere. Boo.

Anyway, here is a picture of her with chocolate on her face and a video of her dancing and singing to Lady GaGa, who is her very favorite.

Hope You Enjoy!

Jamaican Me Crazy Pt. 2

These series of pictures are the ones that the fine people of Sandals took of us. And the ones that I determined that I don't look at stupid in. In this first one, I look 6 months pregnant. It was enough to make me put down my Chinese food.

Wonky eye.. what are you doing?  P.S. I am totally ROCKIN' that side pony.

Dinner at Elenor's

Pool pics...everyone called Nick Saban on this trip. And people told us "Roll Tide" every time I turned around. If we met new peeps, they would be like, "Hey, there's some other Alabama fans around here..." and we'd be like, "Hey, yeah, they are with us because they are our family."

Kissy Kissy..

Why is Casper in the middle? It seems unfair. I can't help it that I can't tan. One of the ladies at the spa told me not to try to "catch up" with Tracie, b/e my "skin was too thin, she could see it from here!''

Dinner at Guiseppe's

Casablanca Martini Bar

More Kissy Kissy.. they love the mushy stuff around these parts

Jamaican Me Crazy Part 1

So, I figured it would be best if I divided Jamaica into multiple posts since I don't have an entire day to sit at a computer and load pictures to the blog... as much as I wish I did!

Hey, look, it's Nick Saban....

We arrived in Montego Bay to it pouring rain.. made it through customs unscathed, and headed to our bus. Everything you hear about these bus rides is true... and I got to experience a front row seat since some douche bag wouldn't move his luggage out of a seat. Imagine, pouring rain, Bob Marley on repeat, narrowly missing small children on bicycles and tree branches and pot holes the size of a small dog. But the clouds cleared when we arrived in Whitehouse and it was gorgeous... and HOT.

The Red Lane Spa...

We quickly got settled into our rooms-which I can't find the picture of at the moment, and headed to the pool.
We ended up eating a late dinner, which, also meant that John Sr had more time to drink. Therefore, making a very memorable dining experience, but don't ask him about it because he doesn't remember. It provided comic relief for the rest of the trip though.

Joseph enjoyed some squid, also!
That night, they had a chocolate buffet, which wasn't as good as I wanted it to be, probably because the chocolate had a good chance of melting before you could eat it. Those white chocolate balls had rum in it... surprise!

I can't tell you how awesome the trip was...it was so nice to relax, sleep in, and take naps!
