Since I started running a year ago, I have been an avid treadmill runner. It started with going to the gym, taking the girls to the nursery, and being about to run, but I would get bored. I would start looking around at other people, looking to see how everyone would work out, change the song on my iPod a million times, and be almost dead of boredom by the time the treadmill hit 30 minutes.
I would sneak in a few outdoor runs in the early am before a race and it felt magical. Being up and running the streets of your small town before anyone else was stirring is so special, even if you wouldn't think it. The smell of the morning dew is so refreshing. Anyway, this past week, I begged coerced Rebecca into running with me. Lemme tell you. Running outside, with a best friend, is totally the way to go. I was always secretly jealous of these two women that would run together all the time at the gym. They were way fast and would be on the for forever just running and chatting and totally intimidating to a girl who had just decided to start running and couldn't even run for 2 min straight.
The heat didn't bother me. Having the buddy is so fun!! Plus, you have someone to laugh with when you see people fall, which we know is something that I love in life more than chocolate.
There is something about being able to fling your arms out and do the airplane down the street, if you wish. Which I may or may not have done. I feel certain that Rebecca will rat me out.
Anyway, I am totally sold on outside running, I don't ever want to go back to the treadmill. Please don't make me!
In case you haven't noticed, I got a little face lift yesterday! All the links are not completely working yet, but I am in love with it. Bailey was super easy to work with and is pretty quick, too! :) Anyway.. let me know what you think!
Also... grab my button..it would me oh,so happy! :)
So.. I'm not sure where to begin with this post, because it goes back a ways, and covers LOTS of drama, but the basic fact is, after I had Claire, a girl I went to HS friended me on FB and chatted and asked lots of questions about pregnancy and whatnot, and I answered them. Within a few weeks, it came out that FB was deleting and blocking pictures of women breastfeeding their children b/c they were offensive. So, I posted a picture of Claire breastfeeding... it wasn't obvious, but she asked and I told her, and she went off on me on how offensive that was and how that should be between a mother and child. That debate is for another time and place. Anyway, she de-friended me. Months later, she friended me again and apologized for what she said.
Lately, I have noticed numerous status updates from this person about people talking about her, or her getting mad about people talking about her on FB, which, to me, seems to be unnecessary drama for yourself. If you're constantly getting into with people, why have FB?
Well, let's bring you to this past Friday. My friend Rebecca's dad went on a bear hunting trip in Alaska. Her husband posted it on in FB and this girl, comments on how sad it makes her that someone who kill that animal. Which sparks an interesting debate. Which, John, being John, says something funny about it. And this person, makes a snarky comment.
I had enough. I messaged her, stating that I was tired of seeing her snarky comments about people all the time and she needed to get over it. She states that her comment wasn't directed at my husband, but at her husbands family members ( who can't see this bear album). Then, tells me I don't have a right to jump all over her about what she posts on FB. I told her it was cool to be opinionated, b/c I am quite opinionated myself, but maybe not force her opinions on people since it creates unnecessary drama. But, keeps directing that her husband's family dogs her on FB all the time. At this point, I have decided to drop the whole thing. She messages 6 more times before I reply.
I reminded her about the time she jumped all over me for the breastfeeding picture. She tells me that if I am not going to apologize then, that is between me and God. I told her I don't apologize for how I feel and I'm not apologizing so, stop fishing for apologies. And that I was tired of reading about all of her bitching on FB every time I sign on. Then, I block her. I figured that was the end. WRONG.
She apparently, has multiple FB accounts, and gets on one and e-mails me again.
Here it is.. copy and pasted. I swear, you can't make this stuff up. Apologizes for the cursing. I didn't say it.

Ok, I'm not fishing for one so that's fine. Your just acting big. You don't have to read everything I say!!!!!!!!! And as matter of fact I don't post about bitching!!!! My latest post was on my grandfather dying. I'm a very kind a wonderful nice person! But if you feel the need to tell someone that you are sick of them go right ahead. I don't expect you to understand! And you are the one who started all this not me. I don't message everyone I have an issue with. You had no right. Whatever I do is my business, you are not God. So as the same to you ignore it or delete me. As I see you already have! Way too go....
Ok so listen to me.. you have ALWAYS BEEN a sarcastic BITCH! same as your husband! You had no right to email me like that.. you could have just deleted me if you didn't like what I was saying.. duh!!!! But here I go again you just wait.. No one whants to see your fucking breast on FB or myspace! That is a privacy thing... do you not understand that... that is why the have places to breastfeed and all. So just think before you put your private parts on the internet..... that is really my thinking.
Secondly.. I frankly don't care what you or your friends think of me.. I'm done with Cullman.. and you keep just as much track ok me, you know it... Ok so you where born in Birmingham... BIG DEAL.. I bet that you havent traveled the world like I have.. or much less pretty much been outside of fucking alabama. You are from a very very very small town.. of which NOBODY CARES ABOUT. Im sure you are jealous.. a jealolus bitch. You may think its all about you.. but thats only in cullman.. Go anywhere else and people could give a shit.
Grow up, get a life, stop blogging all about YOURSELF ON YOUR BLOG.. no one really cares. And stop being sooooo mean and full of yourself like you are the damn queen of FB.... God always decides in the end and I'd be more than willing to bet that you are going to Hell b/c you cant forgive ANYONE, and b/c you are HEARTLESS!!! and stop beating your children for fuck sake!!!!!!

DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT REPLYING TO THIS, B/C I'VE ALREADY BLOCKED YOU AND YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT I HAVE TO SAY NEXT, B/C I CAN BE CRAZY MEAN AND YOU DON'T WANNA KNOW WHAT I HAVE TO SAY NEXT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So... what would YOU gather from THAT???? Is the ability to be able to get in touch with old friends, really worth it? Or perhaps, people should be more selective of who they actually friend?
Alright. I've gone and done it again. I have officially signed up for the Disney Princess Half Marathon at the end of February. I am so stoked. I truly love this race. To think about it, totally takes me off guard and almost brings tears to my eyes and the actuality of the accomplishment. My goal this year? To run the whole damn thing. Only stopping to pee, poop, or take a pictures with a princess. WALKING IS NOT ALLOWED.
That's right. You heard it. Absolutely no walking. I am going to follow a training plan. It starts December 1st. By that time, I need to be able to comfortably run 3-6 miles on a regular basis.
I want to sub 2:45... I have hefty goals for this race. I do not want to have to tell people, "Oh, I didn't run the whole thing." I want to say, "Yeah, I ran the whole damn thing."
I got up this morning, at 5 am... (YES, I FINALLY DID IT!!) I really didn't want to, but I made myself. And I ran/walked 2 miles... I didn't pick the best spot to run in the dark. I parked in the Warehouse District here and ran down around the high school and back. It was right at 2 miles. But, There aren't a lot of sidewalks around there, and a lot of the ones that are, are all jacked up and with crazy overhanging trees that I had to duck under. Also? A good amount of people out! I saw numerous cars, several walkers, a couple of runners, and the CHS track team was getting ready for a run. Crazy.
I am trying my hardest to talk my best friend, Becca, into doing it with me. The feeling of accomplishment is like no other, when you do something that you thought you never could. I don't want to do this by myself again. I really want a running buddy, but I'll be okay without one.
Addison started gymnastics on Monday night. It was kind of a last minute sign up, but I knew I just HAD to get her in. And, I guessed right. I was super nervous for her, because, well, this is a first step in being a big girl. Not a toddler. A little girl. I know we have to get her a leotard now. Maybe with a tutu.
We signed up and we had to wait on our class to get called. She kept asking, "Why haven't they called me yet?" Well. They finally did and she took to her teacher. Held her hand the whole time.
They started on the balance beam, and she was the first one up. She raised her hand to go first. I was so proud.
They had to kick their legs up and try to meet the girls hand and Addison is moving her teachers hand so she didn't have to kick as high.
Can you see her in the background? Teal shirt? She started climbing over everything after jumping the vault and everyone else in her class followed.
Waiting her turn for the trampoline.
I was such a proud Mommy. She has some real natural talent and a love at such a young age for gymnastics.
She kept getting in trouble for getting up on the bars without a teacher and doing flips. No instruction needed.
At the end of class, she got a bracelet and a stamp. It was LOVE. I had to take her out to the car kicking and screaming. I'm pretty sure she wants to live at gymnastics. On Tuesday morning, she woke up and asked,"Can I go to gymnastics after school?" And immediately broke down crying when I said it was just for Mondays.
Saturday. A day for relaxing. Right? Well, what was going to be a fun day for Princesses, quickly turned to crap. A stop at Duchess Doughnuts, first thing, earned Addison the beating of her life because she ran out into the road after I told her to stay right by me.
Yes, I beat the crap out of her in the middle of the road. Right after I had my heart attack.
She continued to not listen, which had me wondering if she is just now starting to get jealous of Claire? Is that even possible?
I must show you my new snack. Toast, Nutella, and banana. YUMMY.
Also thought I would share my new favorite summer dish. It's called Summer Pasta. I used penne, because we had it at the house, but you can use any kind.
Mix 1 cup EVOO, Mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, 4 Roma tomatoes, garlic, salt and pepper together and let it get to room temperature.
The keep to this, is letting the pasta cool off some. I noticed the last time that the cheese melted immediately, and caused for clumpy cheese, but I let it cool a little this time and it didn't.
I mixed faster this time also.
Mmmm... yummy. If you like pasta, garlic, and tomatoes.. it's delish.
But then.. I had this to do.. (Which didn't get done.)
I blew up a pool and a bouncy ball and let the girls fight over them. Seriously.
The sat in the pool and watched Pinocchio.
And I looked like this at the end of the day. Crazy hair. Crazy eyes. Nutella on the face.
The moral of this story? Don't let your husband go out of town for 3 days. Especially when your children are daddys girls.
Do you ever feel super tired? Too tired to even sit on the couch and watch The Rachel Zoe Project? Yeah... I've been THAT tired today. John left this morning for San Antonio.. at 5 am. There was a leak in the girls tub, and Claire woke up with a runny nose. I messed a clients order up. All before 9 am. I was already over this day at 9 am. I did wash some clothes.. I have yet to fold them.
Have I told you how much I am loving my new job? I really am, but on my days off... it's kicking my butt and I am super scared that the photography business is going to suffer. I have already decided that I must get a housekeeper just to take one thing from the to do list. I can handle the laundry. I can handle some cooking. I can handle the photography business. I can handle the house cleaning. I can handle all of those things separately, just not all together. Since, I'm not going to give my kids away, I guess I can hire someone to clean my house.
Also? I'm really over this house. It needs to sell. I need my own area. BAD. The girls need a play room. BAD. It's just getting a little ridiculous. I also wish I lived somewhere different just for the sole fact of running. I want to be able to run out my front door, not drive 15 minutes to run somewhere.
AND. I really want someone to run Disney Princess Half with me. No one can commit at this point, and I know I want to do it, but I really want to do it with a friend. Because, it's a super fun race and you need a buddy.
Another thing? I'm really tired of these funks I get in with not taking pictures of my children everyday.. and somedays I do, and I totally plan to blog about them, but then I forget about them or they don't get edited right away.
Hi all!! Hope you are having a fabulous Tuesday... I am just settling in from a cray-cray morning. Addison sweet talked me into playing hookie from school, and I am REALLY wishing I wouldn't have given in. As part of my anniversary gift/bribe for a new tv, I got my Garmin 405. It's super awesome and I have been wanting to try it out, but it doesn't work indoors and I am a slave to the treadmill since I like to run in the coolness. I had planned on getting up at 430 yesterday morning and going for a run before work, but Addison had other plans such as playing in my bedroom floor at 3 am. Guess who couldn't go back to sleep until 4:15? This girl. And.. I hit the snooze this morning because I hadn't slept well through the night. BAD excuse... I need someone with an air horn to get me up in the mornings. So, I took the girls to the gym and hit the streets around the complex. It wasn't too hot outside, and I ran 1.30 miles outside and then hit the treadmill for another 1.20 miles for a total of 2.5 miles. Not too shabby.
Although, I realized this morning that I could totally run the Midnight Run on Friday since I am not going to San Antonio with John. :( Sad day... No babysitter and no support team. Oh well...
Now, can anyone tell me how to link my Garmin to post my mileage on here? I've seen it on some blogs and I'm not sure how to do it.. I want y'all to know how many miles I am rocking out. ;)
Also, is anyone planning on running the Disney Half? Because I totally need a running buddy for that.
was one of the best days of my life. I woke up to the realization that I didn't have my wedding dress in my possession. Then, once it was in my possession, it was a good two sizes too big. But, I didn't care. My mom would fix it. I had to concentrate on marrying the man of my dreams.
A lot of that day is a blur. I couldn't tell you what I ate for breakfast. I remember paying to get my hair done, but not the actual process. Most of that day, my memories are spending great time, in a little room, getting ready with my best friends. My Dad and Step-Mom brought Chick fil a to everyone. I remember that I began to panic a little, when I realized that my bridesmaids had left me and all I had left to do was walk down the aisle. I can remember shaking and my Step-Dad asked me if I was nervous, and I said, "I'm shaking!!" I don't remember much of the actual ceremony, but I remember turning to light the Unity candle and seeing my Mother In Law bawling her eyes out. Most importantly? I remember the preacher saying the WRONG NAME when he pronounced us to the congregation.
I remember hiding in the back of the reception and scarfing down food. I remember one of the best wedding receptions I've ever been to. Maybe it was because it was mine.
Everything that's happened since that day has been more magical than the actual day to me. Bringing two babies in the world. Actually growing up.
Spending these last five years with my husband, I realize how far I have come. How much he has changed and molded me for the better. Not everything has been fairytales and sugar coated. Let's face it, it just can't be that way all the time. You have to have your downs, so you enjoy the ups.
Some would say that the first year of marriage is hardest. I would disagree. Yes, the adjustment is hard, but for me? I would say the 3rd year of marriage was hardest. That was a tough year. I will definitely say that that's the year that I grew the most. And I realized that there is nothing more that I want in the life than to spend it with this man.
I love you so much. Thanks for everything that you have done for me. Here's to 50 more!
So, I bit the bullet last night, and upped the anty to level 3 of the Shred. It was tough, but I don't think it was tougher than moving from level 1 to level 2. I feel like level 3 is more glutes and abs whereas level 2 focuses on arms and shoulders. Since my arms are the weakest part of my body, I guess that's why level 2 is rough.
My last couple of runs haven't been great. I'm doing them on the treadmill, which, is boring beyond boring. And... it's hot, people. Like, REAL hot. And my gym is one of those fancy kind that use water or something to cool the place down. I don't understand or even try to understand how it works, alls I know is, it's hot in there. And, I am noticing, if I am already kind of hot, and with no COLD water, my runs blow. I am a diva runner, I guess. I have been walking a LOT on these last two runs. This mornings run, my knees were hurting, which is unusual for me, but then, I came home and did level 3 and remembered all those JUMPS. There's the reason for my knees. Stupid Jillian.
Since, Addison has started to school everyday, I took Claire to the gym nursery, which, you know I don't like to do, but I had to get my run in somehow. She cried when I handed her over, so I quickly left and got on my treadmill. When I went back to get her, the girls told me she cried for a little bit, but they put her in the floor and told everyone to leave her alone, and she literally, laid in the floor without moving for 30 minutes. When I came in, I called her name, and she turned her little head around in search for her mama, and her bottom lip started trembling and big crocodile tears starting running down her face as she jumped up and ran to me. It was pitiful and I gave myself the crap mom award. So, I guess no more gym nursery for Claire.
Here's a funny story( this blog post is turning into a hodge podge). Yesterday, I was getting Addison dressed and she heard Trixie barking. She said, "What is Trixie barking at, Mama?" I replied,"I don't know, sweetheart." She came back with, "Maybe it's a person, or a dog, OR a fox, OR SOME SORT OF CREATURE!!" I died. Rachel Zoe style.
And since, I want y'all to have a wonderful Thursday.. here is a video clip. I feel certain that if you are from this area, you have seen this on Facebook, but for those who haven't.. here ya go...
Your Welcome. And, let's not forget the Antoine Bed Intruder Song...
This happened in Huntsville.. which is about an hour from here. Gotta love Alabama.
Yesterday was Addison's first day of school. She started her new class and also started going 5 days instead of 3 days. There was very little drama as she was excited, and I even got a few pictures! She had to have her Dora umbrella...
How cute is her little outfit?
Strike a pose...
As I dropped her off, I saw all of the mama's dropping their babies off at school, and they were parking instead of using the driveway to drop off. I pulled up, like the old pros, we are, and got out and opened her car door, which was about the time that Mrs. Rose opened the door to school, and Addison shot off like a rocket and was inside before I could shout, "I love you!" What a big girl!
When I got home, she showed me all of her artwork, and told me what a good day she had.
This morning, when I dropped her off, I could see all around us, the children having meltdowns. I felt so bad for them and was so thankful that Addison never did that.
Yesterday, I went to the gym after work, and completed 3 miles on the treadmill, I walked the last mile, but I have to get over this hump! There is some sort of mental block that won't let me run over two miles.. and I've got to get over it if I am going to complete 13.1 in Feb.
How do you get over these humps?
By the way, everyone's comments for the giveaway are awesome!!! For those of you( quite a lot) that like hummus, what kind do you buy? Or do you make your own?
Always sarcastic, opinionated Southern Belle.I married my best friend. I heart Alabama Football, my two princesses, running, photography, books, sweet tea, music, and my life.
