2 year check-up

Addison went for her two year check-up yesterday, and for those of you who want to hear about it... She weighed 25 pounds, was 34 inches tall( meaning she is taller than 4 out of 10 of her age group), and her head was 18 inches. All-in-all, Dr. Addison said she was growing well and everything looks good. Addison slept through most of the doctor's appointment, until they broke out the the needles!! What a way to wake up from your nap!! Poor baby got 4 shots in her legs, and never took a breath until after all 4 had been given. :( Of course, John complained about how long we waited, we were in and out of a pediatricians office in 1 hour and 20 min... I say, pretty good timing!! Considering, I've waited for 3 hours for a well-baby check up in the past!!

Addison turns 2!!

Addison's 2nd birthday was this past Saturday! I can't believe my baby is 2!! Anyway, my sister, Sarah, her kids Joseph and James( who we call Jack), my Dad and Karen and myself took Addison to the Pumpkin Patch on Saturday. Everyone had a blast... of course we were all exhausted, but we had a great time. As soon as we got there, James crashed into a fence... I was sure we were headed to the nearest hospital, but it was nothing a little time on the jumpy thing couldn't fix!!

While the boys jumped, Addison spotted some ponies and HAD to go on one. Turns out, there are not as much fun to ride as they are to look at!

After that, the kids rode the choo-choo train.

And by then, it was time for some lunch! While we were eating, there were these little girls putting on a dance recital, and it turns out it was Beverly's where Sarah and I took as little girls! How weird! Sarah was enjoying her frolick down memory lane! We had cupcakes for dessert and we sang Happy Birthday to Addison. She was a pro at blowing out the candles.

We took a hay ride out to pick out our pumpkins and Addison couldn't decide which one she wanted... I think she touched every pumpkin in that patch!!

After that, we were all pretty tired, so we left and the kids passed out on the way home.

Dad and Karen came up and watched the Alabama/Ole Miss game at our house and we just lounged around the rest of the evening. John got home from the game(Of course he went!) just in time to put Addison to bed. Then on Sunday, we had her actual party. Of course, John and I woke up sick with sinus crud! Addison was asleep when the party started, and was a little shy at first due to all the people in her house. We started opening presents, and I would tell her who it was from and she would try to give it back to them!! HA!! She got the hang of it once she woke up. She got so many great gifts!!!

After that, we sang Happy Birthday, and she blew out the candles two times. She fed everyone some cake, while all the guys got a football game going in the yard. Addison couldn't miss any of that!! She ended up playing football with her cousins and uncles.... we REALLY need more girls in the family! Good thing Claire will be here soon! Only Addison could wear a t-shirt, satin bloomers and Nike and pull it off nicely!

I think her 2nd birthday was awesome!! She enjoyed every minute of her special weekend! Thanks again to Dad and Karen for the fun trip to the Pumpkin Patch and to everyone who helped get the party ready and clean up!! It was GREATLY appreciated!!

New York, New York!

This week has been so crazy but I wanted to post about our trip to the Big Apple last weekend!! It was my birthday present from John( I know, my birthday is in April) and we had a blast! My brother-in-law Jay and my best friend Brooke went with us. We got to the Birmingham airport Friday morning around 5:45 for our 6:15 flight- yes, I know we were cutting it close, but we were running late and should have had better planning! Apparently, Friday mornings are not the day to try to cut it close for your flight. The airport was CRAZY!! People were everywhere, the security line was backed up to the Southwest counter... anyway, since we were checking luggage, we were too late to try to check in! They wouldn't let us on our flight!!! We were flying a Delta direct flight to LaGuardia, but they changed us so we had a layover in Atlanta. Fun times! Anyway, we lost 6 hours of our time in NYC. Jay was NOT happy. We finally got there around 3:30. We hit the ground running! We went to Central Park and did a carriage ride.

Then we walked over to FAO Schwartz and the Apple Store on 5th Ave.

We stopped at Tiffany's, for a late anniversary present!

We made our way over to Rockefeller Plaza

and Radio City Music Hall

And ended our evening in Times Square.

We ate in Times Square at Carmine's and it as delicious!!!

On Saturday, we got up early and rode the Subway down to the Staten Island Ferry and rode it over so we passed the Statue of Liberty. We walked up to Ground Zero and Chinatown and then walked over to Little Italy where we ate lunch at Lombardi's, the oldest pizzaria in the country. Hands down, best pizza ever!! After lunch we walked past the Brooklyn Bridge and eventually hit the subway back up to our hotel. After a short nap, we visited the Top of the Rock at Rockefeller Plaza.

That night we went to the ESPN Zone for supper and football. On Sunday, we went to Macy's and Bryant Park, where Fashion Week is. Then we ate lunch at Carnagie Deli- the best and biggest Ruben sandwich I have ever had! We then went our seperate ways for our Broadway shows. John and I went to see Equus with Daniel Radcliffe- which was AWESOME!! Highly recommended. Jay and Brooke went to see Wicked and they loved it! We caught our flight back home around 10:45 that night. After about a days rest, I am ready to go back!!

A Quick Pic!

This is just a quick pic for those of you who think Addy's hair is so darn cute! Would you like to wake up to this every morning?

Luckily, her Momma knows where the hair products are!

Addy's First Alabama Football Game

This past Saturday The McPhillips family ventured down to T'town for the Alabama vs Kentucky game. We got there around 9:30 and went to the Walk of Champions and Addy met The Bear.
Addison wanted to know where Coach Saban was! So, we then walked over to the quad to tailgate for a little bit before going to visit Uncle Jay. Addison was such a big help for all the guys play their toss football game. She helped everyone get their footballs in the hole so they all won!

She also enjoyed watching the Million Dollar Band and the cheerleaders march their way to the stadium. She really wanted to see Big Al but we couldn't get up close and get a picture. Addison took great joy in telling everyone we met "Roll Tide!!" It was so cute! John's brother, Jay, was able to get us tickets for The Zone, which is the way to go with children!!! She really enjoyed sitting outside and watching the game and listening to the band play. She finally fell asleep during half-time, but the was about as long as she slept.

She didn't want to miss any of the action!! I can't reiterate enough how great she was!! It took a full days recovery, but we couldn't have asked for a better child! She ate crushed ice and popcorn the whole time! We ended up leaving the game after Alabama(FINALLY!) made a field goal with 2:00 minutes left in the game only to get back to the car and find out that Kentucky had scored!! UGH! Anyway, we were blocked in the parking lot with a child who did NOT want to be strapped in her car seat. We waited 30 minutes for these nice people to come move their car from the 10 cars they were blocked. They never showed. Lucky for us, the people next to us left and we were able to maneuver our way out, but the traffic was atrocious! We ended up just spending the night in Tuscaloosa at Jay's house and getting up first thing in the morning to come home. All in all, it was a great weekend, with Alabama winning(just barely), and Addy enjoying her first football game! We hope to enjoy many more!!

Just a quick story...

Last night Addy spend the night with her Nana (my mother) and around 2:45 am I woke up and thought, "It's really quiet in here... why isn't the monitor on?" So, I looked on the nightstand and the monitor isn't there and then it dawned on me that Addy wasn't even home! I felt really stupid and rolled over and went back to sleep. About 3 hours later I woke up because I heard something banging around on John's night stand and then the monitor clicked on. I rolled over and said, "She's not here". I received a panicked response from John, "Where is she?!!?" and I said, "She's at Mom's"!! John rolled back over and said, "I feel really stupid!!"HA! I guess great minds think alike and worry about their child!

Addison's Day at the Park

Today was my first day off this week, so I decided we would spend it just how Addy wanted to. We woke up and watched the Wiggles (God help us).  After we ate breakfast we got ready and went to the park. Her NeNac( John's mom) has taken her to the park a couple of days and she LOVES it!! She is all about the slide. There were a couple of other
kids there and she would check them out and then go back to sliding down the slide. After we left we went and got some new tennis shoes and ate lunch with Daddy and Poppy.

Where is the water?

I will NOT look at the camera!

Cheese!!
