Running Ramblings

Yesterday, I finally freakin' did it! I had a little help in the motivation department from Brooke. She is freaking awesome, ladies!! If you ever need some motivation, she is your girl!!! Let me back up by saying, I was supposed to get up at 5am and go to gym and do my running. Unfortunately, I set my alarm for 5pm, not am. Whoops. So, I had to call MeMac and see if she would watch the girls while I went to the gym yesterday afternoon. I am boycotting the gym nursery, because I swear, every time Claire goes, she freaking gets sick. I can't handle the snots anymore.

So, I get there, it's a little busy, which I can't stand. But I was able to get on my favorite treadmill, ( yes I have a favorite, the two on the front row don't get NEAR as hot and steamy as the back row). I got on there and found my focus point, concentrated on my breathing and before I knew it, I had already ran a mile. Mile #2 goes by. But then, someone got in the way of my focus point and it started going down hill. I noticed that my legs were starting to hurt a little, and I was starting to huff in my breathing. So, I thought I might stop at 3 miles... (I know, I know). But, when I clicked to find out how far I had ran, it said I only had 1.98 miles to go. I knew I couldn't stop. I would run until I reached 5 miles or was going to collapse. Whichever came first. Around mile 4, it starting getting bad. My breathing was crazy, and my calves were starting to ache a little. But I KNEW, I would want to hurt myself if I couldn't finish that last mile. When I walked, I would make myself run at 7.0 instead of 6.0. But guess what?!!? I. FREAKING. DID. IT. I ran 5 miles, nerds!!! I was so tired, and my face was all red and disgusting like it is when I run( I don't sweat pretty) and I turned around, saw someone I knew, and said, "I just ran 5 miles for the first time in my life!" I texted everyone I thought would care.

I got home and took a shower and realized that I had rubbed a blister on the back of my foot where my sock had slid down. So, I thought instead of doing a bandaid, I would just do that newskin stuff we had and I would see how it works. BAD IDEA> Apparently, "blister" doesn't fall into the category of "minor cut" because, guess what?? IT BURNED. And it wouldn't stop burning. John had NO idea what was going on because I was screaming like a lunatic. In my time of distress, I noticed Addison going into my bathroom, I figured she was going as far away from the screaming lady who was her Mommy and finding comfort in some lip gloss, so I called back for her to get out of my bathroom, and she cam running out with a band aid. She handed it to me, and said, "Here Mommy, this will make it feel ALLLL better!" I almost died. I was getting on to her and she was bringing me a band aid! And not just any band aid, one of her Disney Princess band aids, which is a BIG deal. She doesn't share those. And guess what? It was Ariel, no less. Her very favorite Disney Princess.
My 3 year old may give me the stink eye from time to time and talk back and refuse to listen to anything but "Party in the USA", but she has a heart of gold.

Me, Myself, and My Laziness

I am figuring out just how lazy I am. I don't think I have verbalized that I am training for a half marathon in March. Well, I am. It's the Disney Princess Half. So, that means we are headed to Disney, and guys, I am getting scared. I am having a hard time making myself run 5 miles at the moment. This morning, I headed to the gym, bound and determined to get those 5 miles in. I stretch and start my warm up and get into running... and my breathing is off. So I walk. And I run. And I walk some more. After about a 1 and 1/2 miles of this, I stop and go to spin class. And I met the spin Nazi. She was tough. She was the girl that I *always* see up there working out or running, it doesn't matter when I go, she is there, running and working out. Her body is ridiculous. Lately, I have been pretty proud of what my body is starting to look like, I can tell a difference in my clothes and I can see it in my body as well. Not anymore. Try watching all of your fat jiggling in a wall to wall mirror for a 30 minutes spin class. It'll change your whole perspective.

I've also noticed that I find excuses that bug the crap out of me until I stop. Like, I tried some new socks.. hated them. My water was warm and not cold... had to stop. My shoes were hurting my feet( that was a legitimate excuse and I had to get some new shoes). But anyway... I guess what I need, is some pure motivation. That, "You can do it!" attitude.

Or maybe someone to just tell me to get over myself and get out there and run.

Addison cuteness

Lately, I am starting to get a glimpse of what the next 15 years are going to be like with Addison. She is all attitude! She is really into knowing what the names of songs are and who sings them. She has been cracking me up with some of her quotes lately and I feel I should share with you.
I was vacuuming the other day and she said, "Mama, you're being too loud, I can't check my e-mail."

She told John the other day, "That's not the truth!"

Yesterday morning, we were having another drama filled morning and I told her that she needed to stop arguing and talking back to me and she replied, "...but... it's sooo hard to not to."

Tonight she exclaimed, "We did it, dawg!"

I will leave with a somewhat long video of her singing some of her favorite songs, which include, "Hey, Soul Sister", "Party in the USA", "Sweet Escape", and "Fifteen".

If you don't like cute kids singing and talking, then you won't like this.

A "Get Ready for Summer" Giveaway!

Hey peeps... I know I have been MIA this week, but honestly, it's been a little cray-cray. But... I have some exciting news! I am hosting a giveaway! I know you're excited.

First off, though, you know what I love to do? Shop for furniture online. In my head, I have this amazing 5,000 square foot house that is always impeccably clean and I always have amazing people over. In my imaginary house, I have beautiful pieces of furniture like this:

and this is outside:

These beautiful pieces can be found at www.allbarstools.com. You can click stool... I just love online shopping!

On to the giveaway!
A few years ago, my sister found these awesome cups and at first, I didn't like them, strictly because all she had were Auburn ones. Then, we got a set of our own for a wedding present. It was L.O.V.E. I'm talking about the Tervis Tumbler, my friend. The grand daddy of all cups, it doesn't sweat and it keeps your drink cold. I also find that my ice doesn't melt as fast, and since I am an ice chomper, this is a major plus.

You could win a set of 2 of these bad boys! Look at those adorable flip flops!! It makes me want to go get a pedicure and get out my capri pants.
Now, to enter to win, become a follower of my blog and leave me a comment. For extra entries, you can follow me on twitter, and tweet about it. Please leave me separate comments for each of these. You have until Monday at 12 noon to enter and I will pick a winner on Monday!!

Good Luck!

Remember The Rose Bowl We'll Win...

Alright. So, I am slightly sleep deprived and it's NOT because I partied it up in LA, because I didn't even come close. We got to San Diego about 8:30pm Pacific time, which was about 10:30 to us. We then had to drive to LA, and of course got lost... and got to our hotel about 11:45( 1:45am our time). We promptly fell asleep and woke up and drove to West Hollywood where we went to a taping of The Price Is Right... I think you should definitely watch it... it airs 2.24.2010. That took most of the day and by then Joseph and Tracie were close to the hotel, so we left( of course, we got lost) and went to eat. We were able to sleep in the next day, and I went up and went running ( and guess what? I got lost...) We got ready, ate some breakfast, was harassed by a 12 year old Longhorn fan who didn't know when to quit, hopped on the train system and headed to Pasadena. Can I just say how absolutely gorgeous that place is? Perfect weather, quaint town, mountainous backdrop? Perfect! I would definitely live there. LA? Notsomuch. We tailgated with family and friends and generally had a blast because it was so gorgeous!! It was so surreal to actually be there, knowing we were playing for the National Title. I realize now, that the rest of the country doesn't care about college football and could care less about it. But... it's a BIG deal to us!!!! Hello? I'm from the South.. we LIVE for college football. The stadium is so awesome, and is built somewhat into the ground, and it doesn't look near as tall on the outside as it actually is. We started off to a rocky start, Colt McCoy( Texas' quarterback) got hurt on the first drive and was out the rest of the game. It's heart wrenching for a player like that, because he seems like such a nice guy. We ended up dominating 37-21. I still can't believe it. We stayed and watched the awards ceremony and celebrated with the rest of the Tide Nation. We headed back to the shuttle service and (unknowingly) broke in front of some Texas fans, who, apparently, had nothing else to talk about and were screaming in my ear about how we broke and was this was society had come to, and the Rachel Hulk was about to come out, but my sister-in-law gave them a piece of her mind, and they shut their pie holes. We got back to LA and got in our cars, stopped at Denny's, and hit the highway to San Diego. We got to San Diego about 3:00 am, parked in a parking lot and slept for an hour and a half until the car rental place opened, so we could drop our car. We hit the airport and our flight left at 6:45 am. We got back to Nashville about 2:30 and it was 18 degrees and snowing. We somehow, locked our keys in the car and had to call BMW Assist to unlock the car. Thank God for my fancy car, because it was COLD outside. We got home and the girls came home and we all went to bed. It was the first time my head had touched a pillow in 36 hours. I could sleep for two days. But... we brought a crystal trophy back with us, and it was well worth it! I am so glad for the opportunity to go and watch history being made.

First Project of the 2010...

As you may know by now, we are headed to Cali on Tuesday for the National Title game against Texas. I needed an outfit with style. I had seen a SUPER cute jersey at the SEC Championship that have BLING all inside the numbers. I was smitten. I said right then and there, that will be in January. So, here is the plain jersey. Not near as cute as it turns out! I really wanted #13 because if we win, it will be Alabama's 13th National Championship. But, no go. So I settled for our first Heisman winner, Mark Ingram, #22.
