Valentine's Weekend

Our Valentine's Day was pretty good around here. We went to a gymnastics birthday party in the morning and Addison LOVED it!! I guess I am going to have to call about getting into classes. We took a family nap when we got home, dog included. Then, BoomPa and GiGi( my dad and step-mom) came to watch the girls so we could enjoy a night out. John and I decided at the last minute to go to Huntsville to eat dinner and watch a movie. We got there about 4:30 and didn't think getting a table would be a big deal. WRONG! The wait was already 2 1/2 hours! So, we went to watch Confessions of a Shopaholic. I had REALLY been looking forward to this movie because I love the books so much.

It was not good. At all.

Don't get me wrong, it had some funny parts, but they were few and far between. Anyway, after the movie, we made our way back to PF Changs and we only waited about 2 minutes. It was delicious! When we got home, GiGi told me that she thought Claire was congested. I agreed. She has been extra fussy and he cry has sounded hoarse. You can hear the wheezing when she breathes. I feel so bad for her.

Thanks BoomPa and GiGi for a wonderful Valentine's evening!!!

On Sunday, we did our new tradition of breakfast at the AllSteak for french toast. Addison just loves it! I think we are going to try to make our way back to church this coming Sunday.  That afternoon, John went to go see his movie he has been talking about forever, Friday the 13th. He has been very disappointed that no one would go with him. While he out enjoying his movie, Addison threw up. All over the place. She was freaked out that she had done something wrong. He came home to me frantically cleaning the rug and Claire crying because I woke her up when I put her down to clean Addison up. Addison seemed to be okay, not running a fever and not complaining of anything. She wouldn't eat supper though and the only thing we could get her to drink was Dr. Pepper. I was very reluctant to give her to Dr. Pepper because if she threw up again, it would be disgusting. After her bath, she was laying down on the couch with John and threw up the brown Dr. Pepper all over his lap. YUCK! She really freaked out about it, but finally told us her tummy hurt. She ended up sleeping the bed with us. I guess that king size bed really is coming in handy.

Claire woke up about 3:30 and I could tell she was really stuffy and having a hard time breathing through her nose, so we got up and did some nasal saline and a bulb syringe and she felt better almost immediately. Here's hoping to a better Monday!!

Sam Walton... I despise you

I think the name of this post says it all.

I hate Walmart. Not just a "oh, I hate going to Walmart, it's always so crowed and people stand in the middle of the aisle to chit chat about so and so's nephew who married that girl and yada yada yada." It makes me start to hyperventilate to go into that place.

Let me start at the beginning. Yesterday was my first day to realize, "Hey I have two children and I don't know what I am doing with either of them." Addison was terrorizing the house and Claire was exceptionally clingy to me. Not that I don't LOVE to hold that sweet angel and smell the top of her head. I just don't enjoy it while I am trying to chase Addison around the house and keep her out of things. Needless to say, by the time John got home from work, I had a headache that wouldn't go away and a nice eye twitch. So, after supper, I decided I could use a little mommy time and thought a good idea would be the go to Walmart and get a little shopping done so I could quit listening to John complain about how he didn't have milk or butt wipes.

Thursday evening at 6:00 was not the time to go. Since I don't have any children in elementary school I didn't realize that school parties are tomorrow. Big Mistake. It was complete chaos. The lines were ridiculously long and everybody and the their brother's mother was there. I finally got out of there after waiting in a checkout line for 20 minutes. Yes. That's right. 20 minutes just to put my items on the checkout conveyor.

When I got home after my Sonic Rt. 44 Strawberry Limeade and some DMB turned up to levels that are not great for your eardrums, I felt MUCH better. What did I find when I got home, you might ask? A clean house, two clean children, and laundry that had been put away.

WOW. I have a great husband. Don't be jealous. Okay, be just a little bit jealous.

Photo Shoot!

Happy Birthday, Claire!

My sweet baby is 1 month old!!! I can't believe it. She is such a blessing. Addison is so good with her, I honestly can't believe how well she does. Not jealous at all. Thursday, we had a little photo shoot. She wasn't really cooperating... she REALLY hates to be messed with!! I think her cord is FINALLY about to fall off. It was starting to worry me. Friday night, we had our 2nd Disney Movie Night and we watched The Jungle Book- I don't think it was a big a hit as The Lion King. But, of course, we can't have a family gathering without a little drama. I started bleeding REALLY bad and having some bigger clots, so we ended up calling the on-call doctor, who said it wasn't anything to worry about unless I started feeling dizzy or my heart started pounding. He thought I had probably overdone it this week. So, I was supposed to basically be on bedrest for 24 hours and see how I felt after that. Well, I was QUITE improved. I was really glad about that, because I started thinking about what was going to happen if I didn't get better, and I wasn't liking those options. I told my sister that if you are supposed to take it easy for 6 weeks, then you shouldn't feel like doing anything except laying in the bed. It doesn't help to have a 2 year-old who is CONSTANTLY testing her boundaries. While Claire and I stayed in the bed all day, John and Addison went shopping in Ham-burg( what Addison calls Birmingham). They bought me an early Valentine's Day present! I got a new watch and it is GORGEOUS!!! I absolutely LOVE it. I really do have the best husband ever.

Girls!

Addy in her Momma's shoes!!

The best we could do at the support  group!
My little chunk weighed 9 lb 6 oz 3 1/2 weeks after birth!!

Horrible Blogger Alert!!!

I have been a horrible blogger!!! Sorry, I DID just have a baby!! Not much has been going on here except just adjusting to life with two children!! We have planned our first family beach trip for the middle of April. John and I have never taken Addison or Claire for that matter to beach without some other family member being there, so this is a true test!! We are very excited. We are taking to girls to some new place in Ft. Walton that is supposed to be very kid friendly! We will let you know!

We have also gotten two tickets to go see Elton John and Billy Joel together in concert in Nashville. This will be my 3rd time seeing them and John's 4th or 5th. When John and I first started dating, I was warned that he LOVED Billy Joel and would make you listen to it. I did not like Billy Joel. I am not sure if John didn't figure that out until after he bought my Christmas present or he thought he could change my mind, either way, he bought me Elton John and Billy Joel tickets for Christmas. I was not looking forward to it. At ALL!! So, my mom bought me Billy Joel's Greatest Hits Vol. 1,2,and 3 as part of my Christmas,  and by the time the concert rolled around in Feb., he was one of my favorites!! We always try to go see them when they come close.

We went over to some friends house for the Superbowl on Sunday. Brock and Amanda have two daughters Carter, who will be 3 in April and Campbell who was born 5 days after Claire. She looks just like her mother!!! Adorable! Anyway, there was another toddler there, Brooks, who was the only boy. The 3 two-year olds got into a little bit of trouble. They were found to be putting Carter's tea set, among other things, in the toilet and then trying to fish them out. HA!! I have also realized, that I think Addison is a little bit of a bully and DOES NOT share well. I am going to have to work on that.  On Tuesday, I took the girls out to the breastfeeding support group that my sister does. Addison, of course, was found to be taking toys out of a little girls hand who was only 8 months old and hiding them so the little girl couldn't play with them. When I found out about it, I told her to share and that she couldn't be mean to people. She proceeded to throw herself into the floor and almost kicked the little girl in the face. Then she started kicking the toy box and screaming. So, I told her we had to leave and that she couldn't act like that. It wasn't long ago that I was quite embarrassed by her just laying out in the floor of a store. I am starting to realize that ALL children go through this and it is NOT a reflection of their parents!! I just wish she would move out of this stage. It's becoming a little difficult to go out in public with the two of them b/c I am not sure if I can handle her by myself with a little baby. Anyway, I am going to try to do better with my posting!
